Lies Interview

1.For those that have never heard of you before, can you tell us a little bit about the band?

We're from the bay area, we're older, and we like playing Hardcore.

2.So far you have released an ep and a full length, how would you describe the musical sound that is presented on both of the recordings and also how do they differ from each other?

We don't go into it saying "let's write some Swedish d-beat", we just try to make fast, ugly music. ABUSE was the result, then we tried to make it uglier, and we got PLAGUE.

3.What are some of the lyrical topics and subjects the band explores with the music?

The end of the world, on a global and personal scale.

4.What is the meaning and inspiration behind the name 'Lies'?

It's an ugly name. It fits the music.

5.What are some of the best shows that the band has played so far and also how would you describe your stage performance?

We don't play often, so every show ends up being good. We played a punk house once where a woman gave birth behind my amp while we played. She named the baby Liester.

6.Do you have any touring or show plans once the new album is released?

We'll play when we do. It's hard for us to make anything big happen but we'll find a way.

7.On a worldwide level how has the feedback been to your music by fans of d beat and hardcore punk?

An expected mix of indifference and positive.

8.What is going on with some of the other bands or musical projects these days that some of the band members are a part of?

I think at the moment this is the primary band for each of us, everything else is in a state of pause.

9.Where do you see the band heading into musically during the future?

Faster and uglier.

10.What are some of the bands or musical styles that have had an influence on your music and also what are you listening to nowadays?

See above. I'm pretty sure we've never referenced any specific band while writing, we're just trying to make unpleasant sounds.

11.What are some of your non musical interests?

Doing interviews.

12.Before we wrap up this interview, do you have any final words or thoughts?

Thanks for doing this, and thanks for reading it.
